***Warning... this post is not for the squeamish.***
If you are me then they mean root canal... awesome! Yes, those are all words the dentist used while he worked on my mouth this Sunday... yes, this Sunday...
As you may or may not know, I have been battling the wretchedness in my mouth for a while now (go here for another round of dental goodness). Even now as I write this entry I can't believe how freakin' horrible tooth pain is and how I found an awesome dentist in our area.
Anyway, turns out that a filling I had done a couple years ago didn't quite work out right. There was a "void" in the filling thus giving any and all bacteria the ability to enter into my tooth where there was decay. So, the bacteria made its way all the way to my nerves in my tooth. How very fortunate am I that my dentist has a tiny digital camera so he can take photos of the top of my "pulp" chamber poking through my tooth! So wonderful.... Well, basically he thought my nerves were intact since he didn't see any blood when he poked at my pulp. That was his only mistake.
We thought he fixed everything on Friday... nope! Saturday I had pain in my mouth that I could barely manage and I didn't want to do really anything at all. Saturday night whole different story... that's why I called the dentist Sunday morning. Funny thing my pain wasn't that bad but by 4ish it was horrible. I called him again and he said meet me at my office. So I had a root canal where he used a "file" (okay they looked like little push pins) to file down my tooth inside where the nerves were. Sweet!
Today I have a lump on the side of my face that Dave says looks like I have a big thing of chaw in my cheek. Not suitable for public viewing at all. The pain is gone though. Thank you new dentist!
So when I got to his office, he joked about how we were going to miss the Oscars... oh right like I give a rat's ass about that at this point!!! I tried to watch some of the preshows just to take my mind off the pain so I did catch a bit of the hub bub... I even caught a bit of the show when we came back home.
Here are my thoughts: Reese Witherspoon and Cate Blanchett looked amazing! I couldn't quite figure out what the hell Gwyneth Paltrow was doing in that salmon colored dress nor was I impressed with Cameron Diaz (what is with her hair?!)... Those last 2 women are gorgeous and their choices weren't flattering, IMHO... I loved Forest Whitaker's speech... I haven't seen the Departed (hell, I haven't been to the movies in forever... I have 2 children under 3... enough said.) and for the sheer gratuitousness of it all I think Leonardo DiCaprio is hot... hotter than he was when he was in Titanic and in fact better looking now. That Giselle Bundlachshewhatever is stupid for leaving him. There I said it.
So with that I'm off to hit the ibuprofen one last time and be thankful that February is almost over!
