Easter Traditions

When I was a child, my mother and I and when she was alive my grandmother would go to church on the Saturday before Easter and have a basket of food blessed. It was all food that we would eat Easter morning. Polish sausage, hard boiled eggs, rye bread, butter in the shape of a lamb, horseradish, coffee cake... if I remember correctly. Tasty... maybe, maybe not...

Today I went with the children to a Polish deli near my house. Alas, I didn't find the butter lamb nor the the coffee cake... I was hoping for a cookie with the Polish flag on it but nada. Perhaps I need to go without the children and really look around. I'll tell you what I saw though a Newsweek magazine all in Polish... craziness!

Prior to the Polish deli, at preschool the Easter Bunny visited and the children hunted for Easter eggs... yup all the good stuff from childhood that we all remember. That's a tradition to smile about.
