Wishing that time had a TiVo button...

On the eve of my son's first birthday, I'm thinking about how time really does fly...

Remember when you were in high school or maybe even way back to junior high and you had to buck up and drive somewhere with your parents and it was like a long ass ridiculous amount of time in the car with them... remember? Yup, it was heinous. Thank God for the Walkman or at least the cheap knock off like I had... pink of course. Remember how time would just sloooooooooow down to a crawl and the minutes would draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag on forever... ugh. You'd bring books you had to read for school or maybe magazines or maybe just maybe you'd engage in conversation with your parents... and end up accidentally cursing out loud like I did. Oops! Hehe.

As a kid, my parents would take me to San Diego and then later after she moved to Santa Maria to visit my sister, Rancho Palos Verdes to my Uncle's or maybe even up to the San Bernadino Mountains for a quick trip to my Uncle's mountain house and all those crazy L.A. freeways...

Anyway, I think that time dragged on during that period and now to balance it, it's cranked up like a record player on high speed... How in the world did he get to be one already? He's such a cutie... he makes this weird little noise in his mouth now... like a funny durka durka noise but cuter. Sigh. He's learned how to say hi and wave too! Sigh again. They are wonderful... babies. They force you to reach out to the outer limits of your emotions and certainly creativity... and in return you get a sweet smile or a ridiculous round of laughter that is priceless.

Just wish I could have a rewind button somedays... I'm sure every mother out there wishes that...
